Darrell Jones

Director

Darrell Jones moved to Ojai in 1983 to live closer to his wife Glenda’s local teaching job. Born in Terre Haute, Indiana, Darrell was fascinated by all things related to water from an early age. After graduating from Rose Polytechnic Institute with a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, he worked at the Westinghouse Division of Deep Ocean Technology in Annapolis, Maryland. After a year in Annapolis, Darrell joined a program to develop new tools for deep-water explorations. That project grew into at-sea tests from the Gulf of Mexico to Puerto Rico to Port Hueneme. Afterward, while working at Vetco Offshore, Inc., Darrell joined a group of engineers and analysts working on new products for emerging offshore drilling projects. Nine years later, Darrell became manager of the New Products Division, which consisted of about 45 engineers, designers and test lab personnel. His work resulted in eight patents for various new systems for installing and connecting pipelines to deep-water offshore oil platforms. On any given afternoon, you might find Darrell up in the canyon looking for new ways to improve the company’s water system.
