Jim Jackson

Jim Jackson and his wife, Susan, moved to the East End in 1992. As a documentary filmmaker, he has produced two Emmy Award–winning documentaries: Greener Buildings/Bluer Skies and Designing Green. For several years, Jim also wrote the McGruff the Crime Dog children’s programs in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Justice and the National Crime Prevention Council. More recently, Jim produced the PBS special, Building Below Zero, a program that examined the transition to a new energy economy at the federal, state and local levels. From 2000 through 2007, Jim served on the Ojai Valley Land Conservancy (OVLC) Board of Directors, and as OVLC president, he presided over the opening of Cluff Vista Park, the restoration of the Ojai Meadows Preserve, and the acquisition of the Ventura River Preserve. He is now on the Ojai Valley Defense Fund’s board of directors. Jim’s twin sons, Evan and Ryan, attended Monica Ros School, San Antonio Elementary School, and The Thacher School. You’ll see Jim running, walking or biking in the East End on just about any day of the week.
